Cataract surgery and glaucoma therapy in a single procedure

iStent works to enhance the eye’s ability to drain fluid, regulate inner eye pressure, and protect against damage to the optic nerve. When implanted during cataract surgery, the device can help to reduce your reliance on glaucoma medication.

Tiny implants with a dramatic impact

iStent restores the natural pathway to properly drain eye fluids. The next-generation version of this device, the iStent inject, comes with two different stents, and is constructed of implant-grade titanium. iStent inject takes treating eye pressure to a new level and has significantly advanced the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure. FDA-approved, Glaukos devices, including iStent and iStent inject, have been implanted in the eyes of patients in the US and across the globe.

With new glaucoma treatment options, the future is bright

If you’ve been diagnosed with glaucoma, don’t get discouraged. You have more treatment options than ever before, and we offer them all at Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers, where we are committed to ensuring every client has access to among the world’s best solutions.

What can I expect from iStent surgery?

Your eyes will be numbed before the procedure, and you will relax comfortably under IV sedation. The eye is cleansed, and then tiny incisions are created for cataract surgery. At Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers, we have the most advanced laser system available on the planet. The iStent device is placed at the same time as your cataract surgery, through the same incision.

Managing eye pressure with iStent

The iStent device is implanted in the natural eye drain. You will not feel any pain during your procedure but may see bright lights. After iStent implantation, many clients at Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers are able to stop all medications. Your eye pressure will be carefully monitored to see which eye drops can be reduced. In every case, the eye pressure is reduced, even for those who need to continue with eye drops.

What is the recovery time?

Every person heals at a slightly different rate, but most people return to their usual activities within a few days to a few weeks. You will need to limit your physical activities during healing. You will need to wear an eye shield during sleep for a week after surgery. Always wear sunglasses when outdoors, as your eyes should not be exposed to the sun or wind. Avoid all vigorous physical activities, such as swimming, lifting, bending, and wearing makeup, and be careful not to rub your eyes.

Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers and iStent

At Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Centers, Dr. Soroudi, a leading eye specialist, can implant the iStent device during your clear lens replacement treatment for cataracts. He has established three eye centers in Beverly Hills & Los Angeles. Each location offers a private, in-house surgery center and laser suite, which is rare in the Los Angeles area. Most ophthalmologists perform treatments at outpatient surgery centers, but Dr. Soroudi wants his clients to have the best experience possible.
