Los Angeles, CA, December 10 —
New research from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons shows there has been a 34 percent increase in men receiving blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery or an eyelid lift, between 2010 and 2015. Dr. Ebbie Soroudi of Soroudi Advanced LASIK and Eye Centers predicts that this trend will continue and Blepharoplasty will become a top plastic surgery procedure for men in 2016.
Dr. Soroudi on why he believes eyelid surgeries will continue to be popular for men next year, “The appearance of our eyes is the first thing people notice when they look at us. Heavy, droopy upper eyelids with excessive saggy skin and prolapsed fat can not only take many years off the youthfulness of our appearance, but can also lead to constant eye straining, fatigue, as well as decreased peripheral and superior vision.”
The outpatient procedure’s popularity is in part because of its cosmetic effects accomplished with a minimally invasive and bladeless technique. The procedure helps reduce the excess fat, skin, and muscle that develop on the upper or lower eyelid due to aging. Skin is lifted, tightened, and smoothed to create a more youthful look. Patients who have had blepharoplasty report looking more youthful, rested and having increased confidence about their image.
Dr. Soroudi is an associate member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and has been recognized as one of the most sought after eye and eyelid specialists in the Los Angeles area and has performed over 1,500 blepharoplasty procedures.
