Chalazion / Styes
One of the BEST chalazion surgeons in Los Angeles!
A chalazion is a lump in the eyelid that is caused by blockage of one of the glands inside our eyelids that make mucous (the Meibomian Glands). This leads to severe swelling, pain, redness, and inflammation of a part of or the entire eyelid.
If you have a chalazion that you would like Dr. Soroudi to treat, contact the Los Angeles eye surgeon today. The Soroudi Advanced LASIK & Eye Center is open to residents of Los Angeles, Encino, Huntington Park, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Sherman oaks, West Hills, and Westlake Village.
A chalazion is not a stye. A stye can resemble a chalazion in the sense that it is also a lump in the eyelid. However, a stye involves glands and eyelash hair follicles that are closer to the skin surface of the eyelid. In addition, a stye is usually more painful and looks infected. When left untreated, chalazia can turn into a large hard mass which will require a small surgical procedure to remove.
Dr. Soroudi's actual patients
Under local anesthesia only, Dr. Soroudi drains the chalazion from the under surface of the eyelid so there is no scarring of the skin whatsoever. This is a very safe and quick procedure which is done in the comfort of the office and does not take more than 5-10 minutes with minimal recovery time. Dr. Soroudi is an expert in utilizing a combination of surgery and injecting special medications (e.g., Kenalog) into the chalazion sac to help it resolve without leaving any left-over swelling or scar.
Dr. Soroudi has invented and patented a product (eye-press) that helps treat chalazia (www.eye-press.com). This product is approved by the FDA and is currently sold at over 5,000 pharmacies across the United States (including Rite Aid).
